Ryan M. Zimmerman, M.D., F.A.A.O.S.
Dr. Ryan M. Zimmerman, M.D., F.A.A.O.S., is a board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon with a certificate of added qualifications in Hand Surgery. He believes in prompt, compassionate care, finding the right treatment for each patient. He specializes in treating conditions of the hand, wrist, shoulder, and elbow in adults and children. Dr. Zimmerman earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Harvard. During his residency, he served as the Chief Orthopedic Resident at Massachusetts General Hospital. Subsequently, he completed a hand and upper extremity fellowship at the Raymond Curtis National Hand Center at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. Zimmerman is recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He is very active clinically, and also dedicates time to teaching and research with residents and fellows from Johns Hopkins, Georgetown and MedStar Union Memorial Hospital. He has written numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts, book chapters, patient educational materials and presented at national and international conferences.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Zimmerman enjoys time with his family, drumming, running and UNC basketball.
